Oh No! More Kia Problems

In a press release from Kia Motors, more than 70,000 Optima’s may need a repair to resolve a transmission issue that may cause the vehicle to roll while the vehicle is shifted into “Park”. The model years include 2006 through 2008, even though all vehicles produced for those years are not impacted.

It was disclosed to the NTSA by Kia that in some of the cars the shifter cable may have been installed incorrectly, causing the vehicle to remain in the last gear that it was being shifted from, since the cable may become detached. Owners are urged to take their vehicle to the dealer to have this checked for free, and if necessary, reinstalled.

As of to date, there have been no injuries reported due to this possible defect.
